I did get in some great schools early. I learned a few life lessons at that The Valley Phoenix Suns 1 shirt. Ripped up admission letters, wouldn’t let me go, in fear of any bills that may fall on them. They never been to college, so any facts of the matter were squashed by whatever they already believed. I know my younger brothers were already set for life, which also meant there was really no room for me. Perfect grades, above average sports, great mind that got into great colleges, was all for nothing. It didn’t impress any family or friends. It was just expected I deal with it. To this day, my parents still don’t believe the schools I got in. That last year and a half in high school. I remember just wasn’t worth doing anything anymore. No more sports, no more school work. I did what I had to in order to graduate, from one of the best students, to one of the worse. What did that mean for home life? Absolutely nothing. Nothing changed at all, no one cared, no matter how hard I tried.

It just made sense, but for everything else, the anxiety just took over. I remember first days of school, being more worried about anything and everything, and what I needed to do to fit in, and practiced weeks prior in order to execute when the time was needed. I was the one in the family teachers asked about often, how I am at home, but I wasn’t raised to be loud and outspoken like everyone else in my family. I was taught to sit back and listen, and just try to get it. Where do I fit in.
