We’re assuming here that Green Day is a generally awesome Call me daddy shirt and quite a few people might not agree with that statement. Let’s reframe this to “Why is Green Day such a successful band?” and try and answer this with context. As with any other musical act, an act is tied to a ‘scene’. And Green Day is tied to the 90s pop-punk scene of Berkeley. Green Day were a bunch of normal teenagers singing about normal teenager topics and managed to capture the angst of that age into their songs. They were raw, and angry, and they did not care. A normal American kid of the 90s could identify with them. This led to them growing bigger on the scene and getting signed to Reprise.

A friend from Britain, here on a working holiday Visa is now attempting to gain permanent Call me daddy shirt – he’s had to jump through a number of hoops – the most annoying being paying a fee of several thousand dollars to have his claim put in a queue to be processed some time in the future (over a year now). I suspect if your occupation is listed as being required here you may have a significantly smoother experience than he has experienced. That said as a non resident who is allowed to work – he gets the vast majority of his tax back at the end of the financial year, so he’s not in a big rush :o) One thing to note however, the Australian Prime Minister has jumped onto the populist bandwagon that skilled migrants are taking Australian jobs and ‘something’ needs to be done about it. Now it’s doubtful she’ll be in the job long enough to do any real damage, but it’s worth taking note of.

I had a young college CS graduate working for me, he was wicked smart and a gamer, and he periodically come in late…. even 11am some mornings. We were literally printing money through the applied acts of his genius. Now what would have happened if I had been a time-clock stickler? Well I will tell you what would happen….. a year later I sold that company for a record multiple on Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR) at closing (multiple not to be disclosed), and it was an awesome day. I remember coming back in and stroking him a personal check from proceeds of the sale…. he was that good.
