Basically Cruz’s actions are him giving the Unicorn you will die alone shirt to his constituents and then not caring if they said or did anything about it. This would have only been worse if he had told them to go fuck themselves and then emailed each one of them (after the power was restored, of course) directions on how to get that done. Cruz seems to have reached the limits of his ability to give a fuck and instead of re-calibrating his gauge, he’s decided to stop measuring. Basically, short of punching a baby and perhaps wiping his shoes on an American flag that he intentionally dropped onto the ground, it’s difficult to see where Ted Cruz could have done anything worse than he has done. If we lived in a country were things were not so screwed up, he’d either have to resign or at least spend the remainder of his final term making up for his indiscretion. However since this is Texas in 2021, he’ll probably be re-elected if he deigns to run again.

Where if your grades aren’t as good as others, you’re stupid. Where people say “you need to eat more” or “you need to loose weight”. We live in a world where people don’t know the things that others are going through. Where if you don’t know what you wanna do with your life, you won’t have one Where if you shop at Walmart, you’re ghetto or poor. Where if you have made out with 3 guys you’re a whore, but if you haven’t kissed any you’re a prude. Where if you aren’t part of the “in crowd”, you’re a loser. We live in a world where we are all expect to live up to other people’s expectations. Where one word can make someone end their life. Where we constantly judge people. We live in a world where being yourself, isn’t accepted.

Taxes on people buying houses without living in them, taxes on house flipping. Those two things right there would go a long way in solving the Unicorn you will die alone shirt  housing problem. The only way ordinary people are going to be able to afford to buy homes in most cities (because a choice between a 2 hour daily commute and just renting an apartment is a bullshit choice) is to stop the chain of rich investors/investment groups charging overpriced rent until they can find someone to buy the house they own to another rich investor/investment group who will then increase the already overpriced rent because the “value went up”. It’s all a steaming pile of bullshit. Homes are for living in, not for playing fuck fuck investment games for rich people to make even more money to add to their pile.

Just a personal opinion – but I don’t think anything can be accomplished until we come to agree on the definition of ‘affordable housing.’ It’s too subjective. Affordable for Unicorn you will die alone shirt  is not affordable for someone else. Minimum wage jobs will never allow someone to be a homeowner. That’s just understood. But when a regular working family with a couple of kids can’t afford to buy an appropriate (not extravagant) home – clearly there’s a problem. Many single persons (maybe not long after leaving college) want to buy a home but their expectations are that they want to buy a home like the one they grew up in. They forget that the first home their parents bought wasn’t nearly as nice as the one they grew up in. Parents bought a crappy ‘starter’ home and moved up by upgrading over the years.Anyway, as with anything else, the market will call the shots. When nobody can afford a house, the prices will drop. That’s basic economics.Now to get off my soapbox, I suggest that we get a definition of the word ‘affordable’ when we speak of affordable housing. What is affordable for you is not what’s affordable for me.
