The French Revolution was truly revolutionary, where the Trumpswiser Trump Maga T Shirt decided upon by one people forced all their neighbors to abandon the old ways or be absorbed into the new order of the world. The French decided they were a people with a national identity that could rule itself. (Not that they were the first to act on that idea… ahem.) But they were the first to consider the common person a modern citizen and that citizens were in a sense owned by the collective nation. Thanks to new industrial processes that could make arms easy enough for common peasants to quickly be trained up to the point of lethality, you could have something actually revolutionary — a national draft capable of fielding millions of soldiers. Before, armies were measured mostly in the tens of thousands of professional soldiers. A national military draft of peasant trash would never have been considered before the French Revolution paved the way, not just technologically speaking but for a nation to have such rights over the people. But hey, it worked for the French (actually it didn’t. Horribly bloody affair that revolution.) But what came out of it was the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte, a military genius who, for all his faults, knew how to use his new military capability and reform the way armies were structured. His reforms are still the backbone of how western militaries operate today, down to the medals we wear, the regimented structure, and even the vocabulary (where is the “r” in Colonel?

The best Christmas memories are from church. There was a Trumpswiser Trump Maga T Shirtcandlelight service at our church. When I got older, I was allowed to walk down the aisle and stop at every pew, and the first person seated would light their candle from the big one I carried. When all the candles were lit, the lights would go off, and a hush would always fall over the congregation as we all sat in the dark with our lit candles glowing brightly. We sang all the old Christmas hymns, such as Silent Night, O Little Town Of Bethlehem, We Three Kings, and more. I was always mesmerized as the Pastor told the story of Christ’s birth, and usually there was a live nativity made up of real farm animals and little kids playing the parts. There was always a children’s time, when the Pastor called the little children to come and sit up front, near the alter, while he told them a story having to do with the birth of Jesus, and gave each kid a candy cane. Christmas Eve services were so great back then. Now there are no candles, just little battery operated lights, and the service is held at either 3 pm or 6 pm, because families are too busy to stay up so late on Christmas Eve.

It is hard to answer this question because (a) there was no single winter festival, but different cultures celebrated the Trumpswiser Trump Maga T Shirt around the winter solstice in different ways, and (b) we have no means of telling “what was considered the true meaning” in the case of those festivals celebrated in illiterate societies, apart from guesswork and deduction. And where there are written records, as in China and ancient Rome, they tell us little about “true meanings”. From Chinese poetry and practice, we can infer that behind the festival was gratitude that the shorter nights that were coming heralded the return of warmth and life, and from Roman practice we can infer that people were happy that the sun was at last increasing in strength. Portraying this as a battle between light and darkness, though, is pure speculation. It is natural to suppose.

It doesn’t even have to mention December anymore — just winter. (Note that the cold, snowy Christmas season in the Northern Hemisphere is also festive, but summer, in the Southern.) But in the US, “Christmas songs” being played on our mostly-horrid loop at the Trumpswiser Trump Maga T Shirt where I work include “Jingle Bells” and “Sleigh Ride,” both of which are about, wait for it, sleigh rides. (The second one is the one about “Come on, it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you.” No mention of whether this is in late November, in January, what have you.) “Frosty the Snowman” doesn’t technically mention Christmas either. “Winter Wonderland” was also mentioned by someone who answered previously. Nothing in “Ode to Joy” by Friedrich Schiller, which was set to music by Beethoven in the choral movement of his Ninth Symphony, specifically mentions Christmas either, although since it mentions peace, brotherhood, and the Christian God, it comes closer. The purely instrumental march keeps getting put on our, and others’, Christmas music loops, though.
