Today I Choose Happiness Snoopy Shirt
Hate speech has been a crime in Canada for some time now. This bill simply extends this activity to online and actually Today I Choose Happiness Snoopy Shirt the strength of some exclusions (making the law narrower). The spirit of these laws is good but I know Canada has previously had issues with the way they went about them (i.e. vague or subjective policy). Does anyone know how clearly hate speech is definied? Because hate speech is one of those words that now has five different definitions. It’s unclear if this will punish someone making violent threats or someone who called a gay person a princessI think this just emphasizes the importance for online-privacy and anti-tracking software. Hopefully there will be a time in the future that we can reclaim some of that anonymity that we used to have. I grew up on xbox live with people shouting derogatory terms left and right and the idea of the government getting involved in that kind of thing is literally laughable.Anybody who thinks this is a good idea has a very naively optimistic view of government. Your choice is to grow a thicker skin or open the door to authoritarianism. It shouldn’t even be a question. You have to be inciting violence against an identifiable group for the law to apply and there is an exclusion that strengthens this. “For greater certainty, the communication of a statement does not incite or promote hatred, for the purposes of this section, solely because it discredits, humiliates, hurts or offends.”So don’t want to be convicted? Don’t call for the death or beating of an identifiable group or encourage people to burn down their homes or places of worship.

This reminds me of the communist era in my country, when they made a law against “enemies of the state”, leaving the Today I Choose Happiness Snoopy Shirt of the term open so that they can use it against whomever they felt likeThis is how political prisons and police where created and the ironic thing is that many communists were thrown there, too. Initially people supported it because it was pointing at the bourgeoise class which had mistreated them before the coming of the communists but in the end and too late they realised that it was actually a way of controlling thoughts and feelings against the regime.Using the term “hate” (or “love”) in the domain of politics and law is careless and dangerous. Because you cannot measure a feeling, you cannot use a system of references to know “the level of hate”.Probably they should replace the term by something that is related to intentions and actions, not emotions. And it’s even more dangerous if it’s not only about how much hate you supposedly have but about how much hate you incite. Because again, how can you calculate the amount of “incited hate”? And how can you connect the action of another individual to the “incited hate” of another? It’s easy to to do so when somebody incites to an action but not when they fuel a feeling, which is not even entirely their responsibility (people might just interpret their speech wrongly and get stirred up). This things cannot be treated subjectively because when they backfire everyone, including the supporters, will suffer the consequences
