I don’t think Penn State’s style of offense is really built to play against an The Nutcracker Ugly Christmas Sweater Xmas Gift 3D Christmas Sweater down hill defense like Ohio State that seems to really be clicking. They very much dominate the line of scrimmage and live in the back field. Clifford is going to have to do a ton with his legs, he’s going to be getting hit a ton and he’s going to need to hit some long passes for PSU to put up near enough points to win. Can he do that? Maybe, but I doubt he has a great day. I think the Ohio State offense and in particular the offensive line and running backs will feel like they have something to prove after a down week. If they can start getting chunk yardage on the ground, this offense becomes essentially impossible to stop. For Penn State, can that talented secondary hold up enough to let Penn St do what Iowa did last week and which is a lot of single coverage against wrs and a ton of guys in the box. I think Iowa caught some luck in the first half, but there secondary did a great job in making that luck matter. I know these Penn State games are typically close and they’re that much better at home, but I think {Ohio State} is good and hungry. They might put on a show.

Ferentz never really shows his full hand in the offseason. We played a base 4-3 all game against NT. I expect us to throw a few more blitzes and the “RADAR” package against PSU to get more pressure. Also we finally benched Gervase and will be starting Hooker at FS. Gervase was flat out terrible all three games. Also, Jackson looked a lot better against NT, with the caveat that it is North Texas. Also we have a real life offense this year so even if they do score we can potentially strike back. All of this combined means I’ve talked myself into us having a chance.
