I guess I’m just used to thinking of SUSHI CAT IN EDO T Shirt as amulets or other objects, but it seems the 3E version is definitely inspired by Tefillin. If anybody has the description of phylacteries in other editions of the MM, please put it in the comments, I’d like to compare and see if this was always the case, or if the similarity came later. Regardless, I still don’t think it’s anti-Semitic. D&D borrows from many religions, and kabbalah shows up in other places in D&D. Golems, for example. To me it feels more like elements of Judaism inspired D&D, rather than that D&D is trying to systematically portray Judaism as evil or somesuch.

Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is a good “Second wave supplement” for D&D 5e. When I say “second wave supplement”, in my experience of RPGs in general the SUSHI CAT IN EDO T Shirt wave of supplements (such as Xanathar’s Guide to Everything) are full of ideas that the designers had that, for whatever reason, did not make the cut. Some for complexity, some for weirdness, and some because they were just plain bad. Second wave supplements are generally much more interesting because they are made with those ideas cleared out and made with much more reflection as to what went right and wrong and what people are doing anyway.

The best one I came up with so far was in a Starfinder game wherein the players were checking out a night club run by a SUSHI CAT IN EDO T Shirt called the Downside Kings. They were there to question the Kings’ leader, who wasn’t terribly pleased to have them visiting. So, she pulled some strings with a corporate benefactor, and by the time the PCs got there she was prepared. This was from a pre-published adventure, and in the real version of it there’s three thugs in the club and two outside; I thought that was a little weak, so… I spruced it up into a multi-stage nightmare encounter.

I was just starting to build my flock of chickens from the four I already had (one rooster, three hens) to a SUSHI CAT IN EDO T Shirt of ten. When Delores was eight weeks old, I began to have suspicions that she was edging towards a gender change. Delores was quite a bit larger than her step sisters, and was growing a more pronounced comb and longer tail feathers than the typical hen. However, denial is a powerful characteristic, and I tried to convince myself that Delores really WAS a hen and maybe she was just big boned.
