During one of my Bridge Mid-watches and in the middle of a Stranger Things Nike Just Stranger shirt , when we took a rogue wave on the port side. At that time a leading Quarter Master was on the helm steering a compass course and I was on the lee helm, just leaning against the railing that separated the wheelhouse from the companionway ladder going below. The ship heeled violently, which we were used to by that time, only now it just kept going until the ship was on her starboard side. I slid across the deck and was standing on the starboard bulkhead, trying mightily to get up the deck, which was near vertical. I could hear everything crashing and banging below. I was hanging on to that railing for dear life, eyes glued to the clinometer mounted to the forward bulkhead. I watched the clinometer and it just seemed frozen on 53 degrees, until it finally began to move back slowly at first and then like a pendulum we were headed for the other side. When the momentum reversed I was driven past the wheel to impact solidly with the Port bulkhead, the Helmsmen bounced off and grabbed the large ships wheel and fought to get us back on course. To this day I do not believe anyone could’ve done that better than we did.
