They don’t do well, because they mostly suck, however there are people like me that yearn for a good one and keep going back to the well, and that’s all that keeps it alive, barely.

It helps that a lot of horror movies actually are pretty funny, either deliberately through writing and shock value or unintentionally through bad special effects or acting.
