it also just feels like big girls almost never get recognized for their fashion and Smoke ’em if you got ’em shirt never get their flowers when they turn out the fashion based challenges. like in almost 20 seasons of the show (including All Stars) a only like 2 plus size queens have won look based challenges: Roxxxy and Kim, and people debate whether or not they were even truly plus size on their seasons. Scarlet winning over Maxi this last episode is on top of just being a highly questionable decision, directly shows just how much lower the bar is for the thin instagram twinks to get glowing praise for the fashion challenges compared to larger contestantsVery much this. Australia may have less people of ethnicities that are common in America, but we are far from all white. I have been in classes and worked jobs where white people made up 20% max. It seems so deliberate to cast so few queens of colour but what is the agenda? Is it just a misunderstanding of Australia/NZ or is it a deliberate way to say “Australia is white and racist”? And even if that is true, WHY would that be the storyline instead of giving underrepresented queens a platform to challenge that?I felt the exact same way about Maxi not getting the win this week. They had nothing negative to say about the look, said she was sexy and fashionable, and that she nailed the challenge. (Almost in a tone that hinted at “for a big queen, we are impressed!” but clearly still never going to be able to compete with a thin queen).Every win Scarlet nabs is a gut-punch but this one was stomach turning and had me extremely disappointed in Ru’s decision-making

Best Smoke ’em if you got ’em shirt
i think this is really powerful & important & i’m sorry some people aren’t finding text walls to be an effective way of communicating–i agree w/ yr take that different Smoke ’em if you got ’em shirt are receptive to info framed in different ways, & you are clearly reaching at least a subset of the people on the sub. thank you for writing all this. <3.a couple tiny things: i generally agree about the queens you listed who had opportunities to return & how those opportunities played out, w/ the exceptions of eureka & cynthia. i was wondering if you could clarify yr thoughts about cynthia in particular?i honestly felt like cynthia returned as a beloved queen who’d triumphed over cancer, who the fans felt super warmly towards, & then there was a little while where she was beating the cucu drum to death the way that, i don’t know, *sponges* or brown cow stunning temporarily saturated absolutely everything, & then she bounced right back to being generally respected & beloved & wished well? i might just be uninformed about this, but i didn’t get the vibe that production had any intention of either fucking her over or kandy who-ing her because they didn’t know what to do w/ her?& eureka…. maybe i’m too biased to see what you’re saying about her return, because from my perspective she was off-putting & said questionable things for a lil of s9 & then all of s10. it’s not like she got a redemption arc. & i don’t really remember people coming around about her during s10, tho maybe they have since then? & one of the finale lip syncs was reshot to make sure aquaria won, no? like we’d be at wow / vh1’s door w/ pitchforks if they pulled a stunt like that to keep a BIPOC queen from winning.
