Honestly, the SLAM Cover Tee A’ja Wilson (SLAM 240) plot of BfA reads like a teenager’s first attempt at writing a manga or comic book. Inconsistencies, handwaving, the idea that ‘cool in the moment’ is more important than the world as a whole. The story presented is legitimately falling apart, the characters no longer resemble themselves, and everyone at the office is ok with it – apparently. The individual stories for Horde and Alliance are great. Rescuing Jaina and putting down the Ashvanes is great, and dealing with Zul’s plots across Zandalar is fantastic. It’s when the two factions decide to meet up that the SLAM Cover Tee A’ja Wilson (SLAM 240) all turn in to headless chickens. Sadly, Horde vs Alliance is the theme of this expansion. And the poor writing and planning is starting to bleed in to the individual factions’ stories. I’m not sure why Blizzard is insistent on forcing story through Horde players, but they are. There’s no reason why my Troll Druid would help burn Teldrassil, but Blizzard handwaved it in the novels by saying I wasn’t actually there. Are they going to do the same thing when my Undead Mage doesn’t kill Saurfang in 8.1? ‘Oh, sorry, you weren’t there – it was the good guy Hordies who are doing 8.1. If you wanna be evil, go back a SLAM Cover Tee A’ja Wilson (SLAM 240).’ There are brilliant flashes of lore in BfA, like with the Sethrakk and Gorak Tul. Sadly, these tidbits do not make up for the rest of it. Obviously, this is all IMO.
