It completely ignores that Vegas and Tampa have some of the deepest most talented rosters in the San Francisco Baseball SF The City Badge Giant Shirt  (Tampa is fucking $20M over the cap), and that all four of them play smart systemic hockey that the entire team buys into. Also that 3/4 of them have gotten Vezina/Conn Smythe caliber goaltending through these playoffs, which is literally the #1 reason the Penguins were a first round exit. It reeks of someone that hasn’t actually watched any of these teams play (sans the Pens-Isles series) and just went “BAAHHH BIG GUYS TOUGH GUYS OLD TIME HOCKEY”The better question is how you think this is even a remotely insightful take.When Dallas made the SCF last year, they were the second biggest team in hockey. The Islanders were the biggest, who made the ECF. Tampa was the 7th biggest. When Washington won they were the third biggest. When WPG made the WCF, they were the sixth biggest team. Is this all just a coincidence?Is it a coincidence that the same Washington team hasn’t gotten past the first round since that cup? Is it a coincidence that the same Winnipeg team got embarrassed in the second round this season? Is it a coincidence that Tampa’s roster is $20M over the cap and nearly identical to the one that won the cup last year? Is it possible that trying to attribute success in the NHL to one blanket “SIZE” label when it supports your point but completely ignore when your beloved big teams fail makes you look like an enormous asshat?

I just don’t understand why, when the bigger teams consistently have more success than the smaller teams, you don’t want to do that. I don’t know how you can watch that first round series vs the Isles and think “you know what this team needs? Size! Not better goaltending! Size!”We won the division because we were fast. We lost to the Islanders because of goaltending, poor finishing and bad fortune.Should bring Zohorna back instead of looking elsewhere for size in the bottom 6. Played really well for us and has a modicum of skill. Will be dirt cheap.I’d like to see Carter on Sid’s RW, leaving Blueger to take over 3C. Blue is wasted at 4C. But meh, it’s not like we’re gonna have all our Centers available for more than half the season anyway.Apart from that, idk where the size is gonna come from. Depends who Vegas takes. We’re cap strapped as hell. The D-corps is pretty much locked in when we choose between Ceci and Petts. Can’t have both.This is why it’s so fucking frustrating to talk to people on your side of this issue. You’re so married to your agenda that you refuse to even participate in a two-sided conversation. I just gave you examples of big teams failing, and before listed all of the other things that make these teams good besides size and still all you can do is “BIG TEAMS ALWAYS THE BEST BAYBAY”.
