I think you’re correct to some degree, but what troubled me about Art’s return was the Proud Mom Of An Awesome Kindergarten 2021 Graduate shirt explanation. We’re supposed to act under the pretence that this is a competition with set rules and they didn’t even make it a return on another season (Vangie, Shangela, Cynthia) or a vote (joe black). It was sheer unfiltered favouritism.I agree with OP on the racial undertones so I won’t touch on that again but even if this wasn’t a case of that, producers should see that those optics were terrible.I explained this above. The opportunities received in the past had some form of justification (however narrow) and several were votes or won a challenge or will ill.The comparable ones are Carmen and Kenya. Which happened eight years ago and havent happened since because fans considered it unfair (even though it had no real impact since they were eliminated on the same episode and were probably set up to fail anyway) while this isnt true for Art.Additionally Art came back over the only POC in the show who had no opportunity at all. It is tonedeaf and assumes Art has more to show than Jojo and Coco which is odd considering Jojos exit specifically talks about what she has to offer

Don’t really have anything substantial to add but I just Proud Mom Of An Awesome Kindergarten 2021 Graduate shirt that I completely agree with everything you said here! A lot of the discourses involving representation and racism in this community often seem to be qualified with defenses that don’t really understand/consider the latent manifestations of racism that exist in this fanbase (i.e. Kandy being relentlessly abused by the fandom for things that triggered disproportionate levels of hate). It’s…very frustrating to witness the same trends happen with this community over and over againI think the producers thought that there would be some huge #justiceforartsimone movement and huge buzz around her. It was shocking that she was eliminated but i don’t think the fandom was really that devastated by it. I think the producers thought it would be another Justice for TrixieI agree with some things, disagree with others, but leaving the toxic fandom out of the picture it’s a cop-out. They are responsible for lots of outcomes in the show and the hypocrisy is off the charts (i.e. when a queen of color does good, it’s “black excellence” but when a white queen does good, it’s production undeservingly shoving her to us for their own agenda). And let’s not pretend that all of last year’s winners being queens of color is just a lovely timely coincidence (in the year of BLM). And finally, demographics need to be taken into consideration
