This is a common but understandable misconception about how secondary sanctions work. You have to stand in line to get anything – food, medicine, whatever.When my father was growing up in Cuba, his mother had to steal chickens from the neighbors to put food on the table. When my father arrived to the US as a thirteen year old, he had worms and was so thin he was able to wear the clothes of his eight year old cousin.
