Depends on the kid. I started work at a Official Ty Rushing Fan Club Shirt, had 3 younger siblings and took care classes between ages 10-13 so I was well qualified and could definitely easily handle a 2 month old baby for a few hours on my own. My 13 year old son and 9 year old daughter, I would not trust to do that. Not because they’re bad kids or anything, but they have had zero caretaking duty experience and they are VERY easily distracted. My 5 year old I would trust to do some things like help change a diaper or feed a bottle or possibly even help dress a 2 month old baby because she was a helper with her younger sibling but obviously I wouldn’t leave her as a caregiver to one. Long story short, I don’t think this is neglect by any means but it also is heavily dependent on the child in question and how long he is being left on his own with the newborn. Couple of hours is probably okay, but he needs to have training. There are a lot of free resources for caretaking classes. It’s also important that he isn’t left to do this all the time and that he’s given adequate time on his own to do age appropriate stuff without parenting/caretaking responsibilities

I’m not as opposed to open carry as most of the other people here. My best friend carries a Official Ty Rushing Fan Club Shirt handgun in a safariland because with his small stature it’s pretty hard for him to conceal comfortably He also is an MP in the National guard so he has some real world experience in fighting over his gun so he knows the risks. He doesn’t do it to try and arise a response from people. That being said I would never do it. Yes it will probably deter a criminal who is just casually interested in robbing you, but Im far more worried about the guys who are gonna look at the large, valuable objected on my hip and try and ambush me for it. No matter how switched on you are, you will always have moments when you are caught off guard. If your main concern is forgetting your gun at home, get a carry rig that is pretty involved in terms or putting it on, like an enigma. You have to do so many things to put it on, it’s not gonna slip your mind that you don’t have it.
