In 2017 when we were approaching a possible Gonzaga-Oregon finals in the tournament, there were Oregon fans everywhere bragging about their 1939 national championship, back when their regular schedule included wins over the Multnomah Athletic Club and Signal Oil, their conference schedule consisted of 4 games each against Idaho, Oregon St, Washington & Washington St, and they NCAA tournament was 8 teams. Long Island University was undefeated during the regular season, but opted to play the NIT instead because it was more prestigious.An elite, well-balanced team, with outstanding depth vs. Carsen Edwards, the one man supernova. Yeah lmao UVA really like to bring games down to the Not Sorry Witch Shirt Especially the last three games of that 2019 tournament: A purposefully missed free throw, rebounded and passed beautifully to diakite, which led to an OT win over Purdue. Cool as ice Kyle Guy knocking down 3 free throws after the clock had run out against Auburn (Yes there was the missed double-dribble call against Ty Jerome). And another OT game in the Championship game against TTU. And for all that to come a year after they lost to UMBC in the first round… Crazy I’m actually mad at us for knocking Wisconsin out of a playoff spot in 2017 because that opened the door for another Bama championship. Which is exactly what happened. We had a golden opportunity to prevent an Alabama championship by simply letting Wisconsin beat us and we blew it.All of my Final Four teams are here. I didn’t realize I picked a Final Four that guarantees a first time champion! And with Alabama, Houston, Baylor, and Iowa not having a title and being high seeds, there are other potential combos as well.
