There are a few or equal to none roles that a woman doesn’t play in her life, being a sister, a No One’s Bae Shirt and a mother to many more dynamics and roles in the corporate world infact. There is infinite beauty in being a woman, and I as a woman am proud for what I was to what I have become. From tackling the pressure of the society to tackling the pressure of one’s own expectations I have grown up. This women’s day I acknowledge the child in me and be proud of the woman that I have learnt to be. Apart from this I admire and am fascinated by the women around me, who are an example for me, who I look towards and wish to be nothing less. Let’s briefly jump back to today, one more time. My favorite song of the most famous Portuguese singer Amália Rodrigues is called “Barco negro” (The Black Boat). It’s about a young woman from a No One’s Bae Shirt village whose beloved died in the sea, yet she chooses to believe that he is still with her. Despite being written in the 20th century, I believe that this song speaks about the struggles women living around these parts have faced since times immemorial. Wherever there were fishing communities by the sea, there were always lots of widows, old as well as very young. Back to 1319. A few decades go by. I’m old now, in my 40s or maybe even early 50s. I’ve worked hard all my life, even more so since the death of my husband. I’ve managed to survive on very little food and somehow didn’t die from various diseases that killed people of all ages.

Some women shows weak front of their image. They don’t raise voice against wrong doing. They suffer because they are dependent. I agree that because of being women some advantages have with women. Advantage of No One’s Bae Shirt is, they don’t have to worry about economy to run a family consequently few Men think that I am superior because I earn. And the family is running by me. Let me tell you to those men, there are few ladies who are running their family by her own and they are doing well in their personal and professional life because of their choices to work or tragedy or emergency or any kind of crisis in their life. Small town society thinks that, if a girl do higher education, they are incapable in running home as those women don’t listen to their men but the fact is, they also understand the situation and try to make things work in a right way. I have nothing much to tell but let’s take a oath for all women to not misunderstand the privileges and rights given to us as women.
