I would certainly disagree with parts of this. That drastically lowers the window that others teams have exploited to build contenders. If Trask becomes the franchise QB, they’ll be one offseason removed from still paying some dead cap hits on Stafford’s deal before they need to sign Trask to a big time extension. They’ll have to move on here soon, but 2022 is about ten times more efficient, and with COVID squeezing the cap for the next few seasons, I think it’d be a really bad idea to start that process now. Trask slipping to three is the only tempting part about it, but even then, still shakes out much better next year.
