I am honestly surprised to see people really didn’t like this album – for me I think it may be my second favorite project of his (with LUV vs the World being #1). I think it honestly is one of the My Son Defend Your Freedom Just Imagine What He Would Do For me Veteran American Flag Shirt  unique albums I’ve heard this year and while it does have its issues, both in the OG and the deluxe, this along with After Hours helped keep up morale during quarantine as dumb as that sounds.Obviously this isn’t the Heaven’s Gate, alien album that the original album cover seemed to suggest. And while it is kinda disappointing that Uzi didn’t make a really daring and experimental album, that’s not what this album is. Eternal Atake is Uzi at his most hectic, more aggressive, entrancing, and broodier than anything he’s done before. There’s a small narrative laced throughout the album about Uzi being abducted by aliens – it’s certainly not deep or necessary but the interludes are nice moments, and the album in general has a lot of great soundscapes, with some of my favorite instrumentals he’s rapped over in his entire career. Silly Watch may be an instrumental that wouldn’t have Uzi as the first pick to spit over it, but he rides the dissonant beat with a flow that is just plain infectious. You Better Move samples an old Windows pinball game to great effect, and probably is my favorite instrumental on the album. P2, the outro, is a flip of XO Tour Life – and while the original hits harder with the Interstellar sample and a wonderful synth, I think it succeeds in being a highlight of the album, making for a nice callback that was surprising on the first listen.

In terms of lyrics, obviously Uzi isn’t going to be writing Shakespeare, but I actually think the My Son Defend Your Freedom Just Imagine What He Would Do For me Veteran American Flag Shirt   has a lot of notable quotables and feels pretty cohesive. Something I’ve noticed with this entire era of Uzi, including New Patek and Free Uzi, is that a good amount of these songs have LONG choruses, with 16 bars that help make these songs feel like extremely long, dizzying verses. Homecoming has an insanely energetic chorus that bounces around and dances and internal rhymes, assonance, and snarky lines that feel like a heated stream of consciousness. And this delivery is all over the project, which may be a turn off for some people, but in my opinion Uzi sounds more comfortable over these beats than a lot of songs he’s done over his career, pouncing over these trap beats like his life depends on it. The second half of the album becomes a bit more laid back, with songs like Chrome Heart Tags and Prices satisfy those that were looking for a bit of Uzi’s old style.
