The reason was dice in prison are a Moo… I Mean Boo T Shirt subject and if you get caught with them they can be confiscated as they are used for gambling. I have to say, the dice were nice because before we were making our own using cardboard, glue and stuffing the insides with things like sand or toothpaste. I’ll tell you something else about D&D in prison: at least 75% of the people who play it are sex offenders. There’s a variety of reasons this could be but mostly I think it comes down to two things: 1. Most federal sex offenders are in for computer related crimes and those who are good enough with computers to commit crimes with them are generally nerdy and part of the D&D general demographic, 2. I also think there’s something among sex offenders that makes them gravitate towards anything with elements of fantasy. For this reason, I never played at the gym. Literally there would be tables full of D&D groups playing every afternoon and evening for hours and most of them were sex offenders. They weren’t bad people. Most of them didn’t have hands on offenses at all. But some of them were extremely weird, however, and associating with them in prison can create a guilt by association.

All these different skulls (there is a full-page spread in the book itself) are from different breeds of the Moo… I Mean Boo T Shirt species, Columba livia. Just look at the varieties in the shape of their beaks, from the short-faced tumbler to the hook-nosed Scandaroon that seemingly has aspirations to be a bird of prey. We are awed at the breed diversity in dogs, from the Pekinese to the St. Bernard to the greyhound; pigeons have even more. And yes, since they breed fast, they have been evolving, according to human selection, in breeds for the century and a half since Darwin. So for example, to quote van Grouw about fantail pigeons (p. 31): Early fantails were rather horizontal…It’s their neck that’s their loveliest feature, typically held in a graceful swanlike S shape that pushes the breast forward…[But] fanciers increasingly selected birds for a more erect posture, gradually resulting in the rotation of the entire body into an almost vertical position.

First, introduce the tarrasque at a relatively low lever, when the PCs have zero chance of Moo… I Mean Boo T Shirt against it. The tarrasque is a monster-movie monster, like Godzilla or King Kong. And the most memorable part of monster movies is almost never the final battle. The best parts are the wild struggles to escape, the often ill-advised plans to bring them down, and the general social chaos left in the wake of a creature so powerful. So have the tarrasque show up when the players are level ten. Have an adventure around them escaping through the monster-infested sewers, because if they try and run above ground they’re sure to be devoured.

Angry at having his time wasted, he throws accusations of Moo… I Mean Boo T Shirt at Flaherty and disbelief at Corwin’s claim that the bag is supernatural. Dundee challenges Corwin to produce a bottle of cherry brandy, vintage 1903. Corwin reaches into the bag to hand Dundee his exact request, and is set free. He continues to distribute gifts until midnight, when the bag is empty. A man named Burt, whose desired pipe and smoking jacket had come from Corwin’s bag, sees Corwin again and points out that Corwin himself has not received a gift. Corwin says that if he had his choice of any gift at all, “I think I’d wish I could do this every year”. Returning to the alley where the gift-laden bag had presented itself, he encounters an elf sitting in a large reindeer-hauled sleigh, waiting for him. Realising that his wish has come true and he is now the real Santa Claus, Corwin sits in the sleigh and sets off with the elf. Emerging from the precinct, Flaherty and Dundee, now slightly tipsy from Corwin’s brandy, look upward upon hearing the tinkle of bells and see Corwin, in Flaherty’s words, “big as life, in a sleigh with reindeer, sittin’ next to an elf”, ascending into the night sky. Dundee invites Flaherty to accompany him home and share some hot coffee, with brandy poured in it, adding, “…and we’ll thank God for miracles, Flaherty…
