If I am doing a Michigan Wolverines 2024 CFP National Champions T Shirt…we tend to have seafood the night before. About every 7 years or so we were travelling Christmas Day to our timeshare in Banff. Those years I made Christmas dinner the week before so we could keep our fridge fairly empty since we would be gone for a week. I usually had a nice Thai soup made for that day so we could have a light supper after driving 5 hours. So it all depends. Our lovely New Year’s timeshare that we have owned for 20 years has made our holidays so much more enjoyable. We are away from the craziness and enjoying the peace of the mountains. Due to our week falling from Sunday to Sunday at the end of the year…sometimes our week starts on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve. Such is life and we roll with the time.

Slovaks: Slovaks are obviously the closest nation to Czechs. This is due to a common history of being Slavic nations under the Holy Roman Empire, and later under the Austrian Empire. Aka we both have a lot of Germanic influence. The Slovenian mentality, I would say, is very similar to the Czech one. Austrians: Czechs were ruled by the Austrians for centuries. Many Austrians: especially in Vienna and north eastern Austria have Czech surnames, and many Czechs have German surnames that are commonly found in Austria. This is because there was a lot of movement back and forth between nations. Austrian cuisine is very similar to Czech cuisine, and crossing the border into Austria from south Moravia you barely even notice a difference. Austrians I’ve encountered also tend to look more Central European than Western European like many Germans do.
