My niece who is now 18, her bio parents broke up when she was 1 year old. Her parents were young, her mom was in and out of her life starting at 2. Her dad found another woman ( who he married) and my niece started to something refer to this woman as Mom/Mommy all the Messy Bun Hair Mom One Badass Mama American Flag Vintage T Shirt referred to this girlfriend/wife by her first name to the child and corrected her gently ( you mean Sarah• when she said Mom) because her bio mom would get upset and my niece usually referred to Sarah as Sarah until about Kindergarten or 1st Grade, when she would refer to her as Mom because that was who her friend saw and such and my niece still calls her stepmom “Mom”. It is developmental and kind of peer pressure for a 6 year old. But I do think that Bio Dad should be plan “Daddy” and boyfriend should have the name added on. I guess I wouldn’t make a big deal about it because it is the love that your niece feels but honestly, this boyfriend and mom break up then I would talk to mom about bio dad being just Daddy and new boyfriend being Dad Name, but I also think it gets complicated when their are younger half siblings in the house too.

Now, open your eyes and without moving your head ( just your eyes), see 5 things. It will be hard in the Messy Bun Hair Mom One Badass Mama American Flag Vintage T Shirt, but you will probably see a light on a smoke detector, maybe the edge of a door frame, a little light coming through, a window, etc. After you have seen 5 things, now close your eyes and without moving at all, HEAR 5 things. This may take a while and you really need to concentrate. You can’t count the same sound twice. What I hear usually is crickets outside, (maybe not at Christmastime) a dog barking in the far off distance, a car going by, the house settling, the furnace blowing, maybe a toilet flushing. You must be very quiet and listen carefully. You will be suprised what you hear. Now if you are still awake, without moving, feel 5 things. This is not as hard as you might think. You feel your head on the pillow, you feel your hands on the sheets, you feel your pajamas on your body, you even feel your tongue touching the inside of your mouth. If you get through all these things and you are still awake, start back at seeing 5 things and repeat; see 5 things, hear 5 things, feel five things. I have only been able to get to the end twice.

It is hard to answer this question because (a) there was no single winter festival, but different cultures celebrated the Messy Bun Hair Mom One Badass Mama American Flag Vintage T Shirt around the winter solstice in different ways, and (b) we have no means of telling “what was considered the true meaning” in the case of those festivals celebrated in illiterate societies, apart from guesswork and deduction. And where there are written records, as in China and ancient Rome, they tell us little about “true meanings”. From Chinese poetry and practice, we can infer that behind the festival was gratitude that the shorter nights that were coming heralded the return of warmth and life, and from Roman practice we can infer that people were happy that the sun was at last increasing in strength. Portraying this as a battle between light and darkness, though, is pure speculation. It is natural to suppose.

I had a little apartment in a little town called Scotia, just across the Messy Bun Hair Mom One Badass Mama American Flag Vintage T Shirt from Schenectady. As Christmas approached I noticed a different celebratory approach. No booming lights and music and loud laughter and neighborhoods shining on the hill. Instead, and I think this the way they did it up north, there was a single candle in the windows of houses. I guess they were electric. No dangling lighted icicles drooping from the eaves or trees with each branch covered in lights. Just a single candle in ever window facing the street. It was cold that Christmas Eve so I was bundled up as I walked the residential streets of that little town named Scotia. I walked and walked and looked at those single candles in the dark windows and tears began running down my face. Perhaps I was lonely. Perhaps I was sad. Perhaps I was reflective. Perhaps I thought that those single candles truly meant Christmas to me. So. There are magical and wonderful vistas to visit in the grandest cities of the world. I love watching how others celebrate on TV. But if you were to ask me the best city to visit during Christmas, I would say, “Scotia, New York”. Walking down the streets late at night.
