I was in French Immersion and never had history in English, so to be honest, I found Los Angeles Lakers NBA Hawaii Floral Hawaii Shirt really hard for anything I was taught in that class to actually sink in. I mostly just remember that it was heavy on French settler history, and then in high school it was WWI (grade 9) and WWII (grade 10) mostly.I admittedly learned the vast majority of what I know about indigenous history and culture by moving out to Vancouver and having indigenous friends who took the time to teach me.I went to a private secular school that was Catholic until the 70s. The retired Fathers still lived on campus behind the school. Our history class definitely went over the schools, and the mistreatment of natives by the Church at those schools and that was in the mid 2000’s. I feel like most people in my social circles knew about those schools even before they came back into the news cycle recently.

I actually would have expected the church to attempt to give them a proper Christian burial- maybe a little misguided for cultural reasons, but showing some respect for the dead, at least. The disrespect they showed their bodies is not something I considered before
