Originally the event was called International Working Women’s Day, it was first celebrated on February 28, 1909, in New York and was organised by the Socialist Party of America however it wasn’t until 1914 that the first modern International Women’s Day was celebrated. Socialism was well ahead of it’s time of course and championed equality for all. But here’s the problem: the rest of the state isn’t all rural.
