Apparently, Spinel reminded her of Jonathan Personalized First Name Shirt when she was alive, and it played on emotions she hadn’t considered for decades, if not a couple of centuries. As thanks, she gave Spinny her Mask of Many Faces and remarked that “It will be nice to affect the world again.” She escorted Spinel to a platform, and told her to stay safe going back up to the city. Later, when Spinel and Fahren sailed off from Alaghôn, DM had me roll a perception check: Spinny then saw a stunning Elven woman standing on the docks, waving at The Saint Marie… Who had a blanket tied around her shoulders. The two of them have been friends and pen pals since then—Spinny even got Unthir to attend one of Tarael’s parties! She doesn’t realize that Unthir only went to the party to see Spinel, but the two of them got to dance, so that’s all Spinny cares about. DM has gotten pretty wise to Spinny’s antics by now, but every now and then I’ll still surprise him!

The family has moved into their own home now, an older home (still nice, but no high ceilings and not many elf hiding places!), and the children have both multiplied AND grown older, taller, and Jonathan Personalized First Name Shirt. The Elf game is now the bane of the mom’s existence. Hiding it is a task. Several times this year, the Elf hasn’t had to go back to Santa because the kids were SO good the day before, thus explaining why he remained in the exact same hiding spot as the previous day. One evening, the mom is flustered. She finally hands the Elf to the dad and says,  you hide the #%)(#^# elf today, but hide it high, because Big M is testing the waters and going to touch the #%(^#^ thing.” Dad’s answer is less than ideal – not only is the perch precarious, but it’s easily within reach of at least the oldest child, if not the second oldest as well. And it’s possible the elf is also judging the thermostat temp, which is an ongoing passive aggressive battle between mom (who sits at home and freezes all day) and dad (who pays the bills, but also works in his nice warm office all day).

The best one I came up with so far was in a Starfinder game wherein the players were checking out a night club run by a Jonathan Personalized First Name Shirt called the Downside Kings. They were there to question the Kings’ leader, who wasn’t terribly pleased to have them visiting. So, she pulled some strings with a corporate benefactor, and by the time the PCs got there she was prepared. This was from a pre-published adventure, and in the real version of it there’s three thugs in the club and two outside; I thought that was a little weak, so… I spruced it up into a multi-stage nightmare encounter.

Delores, at ten weeks old, was quickly getting integrated into the Jonathan Personalized First Name Shirt of the flock. Because these six little chicks started out in an aquarium with a heat lamp in my study, then moved to a large hamster cage, then finally outside in a cage kept inside the barn, the grown chickens had all slowly acclimated to seeing Delores and his sisters. However, the first few times I put the babies in the open with the hens, I cautiously supervised the meeting. There was blustering and a little pushing by the big chickens – similar to what you might see on a junior high playground the first week of school – but nothing too severe. Once when the largest hen, Joan Crawford, pulled at Delores’s tail, he ran to me and flew into my arms – but when I scolded Joan and she stalked off to pout, Delores was brave enough to go back and try again. The pecking order shook out fairly easily within a couple days, with Delores towards the middle.
