Enhancing and optimizing bus routes is a direct lifeline into some of the most vulnerable and underserved communities which would improve one of the many barriers facing these groups, even generating outcomes that support the Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s newly-announced mission of population growth. Immediate solutions are available. During my commute, police had set up dedicated bus lanes, which abruptly ended after a couple of blocks on Woodward. Why not make these permanent, or at least time-barred, particularly in known high-traffic areas? City officials can install benches and shelters at stops that lack these 一 having commuters wait in the rain is a clear signal of how their city views them. With deliberate investments and equitable interventions, we can liberate our streets in favor of more impactful solutions.
