On one hand you have the “suburban bliss” dream that was shoved in people’s faces. A lovely yard for a garden and your own space to spread out in. On the other hand, city apartments are hella convenient, and solve the issue of getting a lot of people in one area housing. But no one romanticized the idea of apartment life and how good it could actually be, and people’s initial thoughts are that you will have less space and your neighbors will literally be on top of you, so you’ll have to deal with their noise.In my current walk of life I would be fine with either apartment or house, but I can’t lie… I want to be able to have my own space without hearing the drama of my neighbors above me, and I wanna put literal roots in the ground of my yard. It doesn’t have to be suburban, but I do want my own space, and it’s hard to grapple in one’s mind that I have to give up that future because I can’t afford it or to mitigate the issue of suburban sprawl. It’s a hard one.

The takers are in charge? Where I’m from, a giver just means someone with a Jack Skellington and Pennywise Johnson Johnson Halloween shirt, who pays taxes. Most politicians have done so in their life and most of them haven’t been living entirely on government money. You have universal healthcare, even though you couldn’t go through with it entirely without cutting the insurance companies in on the deal. Welfare is not a bad thing. It seems like the word is cursed to you, but I actually consider it a very positive word. You’re probably going to vomit, but I also consider the word “socialist” positive in many a way. I identify as one myself. And I support the welfare state that my country uses 100%. That’s pretty much the only thing about my country that I’m willing to fight to protect. (Don’t really know what Americans are willing to die for.)
