And in before the “bUt thAts BeCAuse thEres NoThIng tO Do iN nebRaSkA”, Omaha is often considered the amateur sports capital of America. We’ve hosted the College World Series for over 50 years (and built a new stadium just to keep it longer…but that’s another rant for another day), host the US Olympic Swim Trials, NCAA playoffs for basketball and volleyball, and believe it or not, we actually have hockey teams here! I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of a hockey town Omaha is when moving here from Edmonton. We’ve got the Lancers (USHL) and Mavs (NCAA). There may not be any pro teams here, but Kansas City, Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, and St. Louis are all within an 8 hour drive
