It’s rough, yeah — I definitely appreciate that both sides are struggling, and thanks for commiserating with the male experience, lol. I feel like dudes gotta worry about getting labeled as a Die Hard Ugly Christmas Sweater Yippee Kiyay Ho Ho Ho or accused of rape, while girls gotta worry about being raped or being murdered. Not willing to venture which one is worse, because the odds of each situation aren’t the same, but acknowledging both sides have it rough and working on solutions together is the way forward. (For what it’s worth, my deeply held opinion is that women would be better served by reaching out to men that catch their eye — its a complex take, but frankly I think it’s the most feminist way to date. Men need to work on solidifying and deepening their friendships, — both male and female and through that reduce or create more ingroups of men that are “safe” for women to spend time with/around.)

Not even close to the Die Hard Ugly Christmas Sweater Yippee Kiyay Ho Ho Ho I felt reading you post, but at My last job I had I worked atleast 12 hours a day and was on call at my low income apartments, making my residents happy and ensure my company passed their state inspection. I truly fell in love with my residents and wanted to be a good maintenance tech for them. Many cried when I replaced their lights that had been out for years, and repaired various issues. I became good friends with alot of them, and they knew they could count on me day or night. When it was time to hand out company bonuses, I was sort of excited. I opened up my check, excited to see the couple hundred I’d get, only to see that I got $8. Boy, was I unhappy. I went into my office and fired off a stern, but polite, email to my regional. I told her she needs to keep 8$ out of my next check because I refuse to take an 8$ bonus. I let her have it in the email. I told her that I would have been happy to receive nothing at all, but to receive 8$ when I worked atleast 12 hours a day, and even acted as manager and collected rents from tenants when my manager was put for months was a load of crap and disrespectful. She send down the district manager to be property manager for the day and had her pull me aside and beg me to stay. They immediately put me in for the biggest possible bonus for the next quarter. I told the district that it’s not okay, but the only reason I’m staying is because I love my residents. Boy was I mad and I’m still salty to this day. I saved my carefully worded email to look back on and smile!
