This is what’s been truly baffling to me. It’s not just bad writing, it’s (afaik) unprecedented in an MMO. Guild Wars 2, Final Fantasy 14, Warlords of Draenor and Legion… they all have stories that feel more like single-player games about my character, but at least it still feels like it’s about my character in that context. Sure, it hurts the suspension of disbelief knowing that everyone else was getting that story too; Legion told me that my Tauren Druid was now the leader of all druids, but it also told my friend that his Worgen Druid was the leader of all druids. But at least even there, the story was still about my character. BFA has gone in a completely different direction.
