Our very dear friends, husband and wife, are in the last stages of pancreatic cancer. The wife was not diagnosed until stage four. They have excellent doctors, who have tried every test they could possibly try so I don’t understand why they didn’t catch the wife’s cancer sooner. But, that being said, it looks like even if they had, it wouldn’t have made any difference because they are both dying of it at the same time and would not have been able to cure her either. You would think by now they would at least be able to diagnose pancreatic cancer since they are very aware of it killing without realizing a person has it. I hope, by us posting these comments about this particular cancer here, people will be more aware of this killer and catch the cancer before it’s too late.

In 1963, I was 12 years old. We lived in South London and were travelling to Norfolk (east of England) for Christmas and New Year. I was in the back seat, wrapped in coat and a blanket, Mum was wrapped in travel rugs in the front seat. I don’t recall our arrival, I had been asleep for ages, but I know it took us at least 6 hours probably 7, it was a real nightmare for Dad driving – even though he was very good as he was in the police and had had done an advanced driving course. The whole of the UK had a really cold snowy winter that year. Mum and I stayed on longer in Norfolk, Dad went back to London on the train to go to work and came back to collect us the following weekend.
