His race pace isn’t that great. His driving style is oversteering mode. This technic is used to get the fastest lap in qualifying. Unstable rear wing and mechanical grip to rear tires makes the car oversteering. This has a flaw. You will have tremendous amount of tire wears on race day. For example watch his race pace in Hungary, Russia, Singapore, Mexico, etc.

But I will say finally this; Since 2008/2009 Ferrari have had 3 world champions filling the cars (Alonso, Riakkonen and Vettel.) So if he outscores Vettel it will be good for his reputation and will be regarded as one of the 2022 Team Friendly Fire Shirt champions if not in 2019.But it won’t change anything on Vettel as he was outscored by Ricciardo twice and still regarded as one of the best drivers on the grid. Leclerc is currently rumoured to be replacing Kimi Räikkönen at Ferrari next season.
