In the past, I used to shy away from giving too many details depending on the 1973 Protect Roe Wade T Shirt. Today, I do usually take the time to explain; whether be in professional conferences or any other meetings. This is also why I have started writing about Rwanda on Quora. I am very proud of my country and what we have achieved for the past 24 years; from a failed state to a peaceful and a prosperous country. The social, political and economic transformation that has happend in Rwanda is what the media has called an “economic and political miracle”. When I don’t have time to explain, I simply share my articles to give an overview of what Rwanda is today, our future potential and what we can offer to the world. It has saved me lots of time and effort. I love it! Stories like these keep me motivated to educate and inform people about my country. A beautiful nation that many people around the world know so little about. This article is a brief introduction to my home country, Rwanda. There are so many things that many tourists and visitors are surprised to find out when they come to Rwanda. However, an average Rwandan takes them for granted and does not think of it too much. In a way, we Rwandans have become used to it and have become a way of life by now.

I came from a 1973 Protect Roe Wade T Shirt family in Malacca, Malaysia & had the privilege of being invited by my neighbour, a respected Christian family a few weeks before Xmas to attend a community event at the British Commonwealth 28th Brigade Forces HQ in Terendak Camp, Malacca, Malaysia as an Xmas CSR (corporate social responsibility) community event. I was about 12 years young then in the late 60s. CSR was unheard then. There was so many activities that we had a mesmerising and amazing time with prizes & good food with souvenirs. The soldiers gave us an authentic interesting tour of the military stations, barracks & general depots, including the armoury vehicles & what appeared to be “little museums.” All the kids in attendance were so happy & thrilled to be accorded such VIP treatment. I bragged about it to my neighbours & school friends. Till this day, I remember the event & look upon Xmas as a time of love, giving, fun & adventure. My impressions of Christianity (I am a Sikh) stood high, ever since.

Writing from faraway Australia I have to glumly report that our 2 most populous states, New South Wales and Victoria, as well as Canberra and its surrounds, are in hard lockdown and state and 1973 Protect Roe Wade T Shirt irrespective of their political leanings, are taking no chance. There was a slight relaxation of public event restrictions towards the end of the 2020 pandemic – schools reopening, some theatres, concerts and sports events with limited seating – but no major festivals. Since then there has been the emergence of the even more virulent Delta strain – with no indication as to what even worse variants round the corner – and we are in total blackout conditions again – the wartime parallel will not be lost on you – or on me as an ex-Pom. So far the total death toll has not yet exceeded 1000, or only recently – in stark contrast to the daily death toll of 1000’s which you have been experiencing for weeks on end – and the population of the UK is only just over double that of Oz -but any resumption of “normal” life is just not on the horizon. In the historic past people rode out plagues, prayed to the God of their ancestors, and locked their doors until the pestilence blew over. In our time such death rates, and the yet-to-be-assessed degree of debilitation among those who survive -are just not acceptable. Much as I and my fellow-musicians, and others in a whole range of professions, are devastated by present realities, we have to accept that any wholesale re-opening of business-as-usual is not worth the risk.

Midwinter celebrations are nothing new – and certainly not originally Christian! It’s no coincidence that the Christian festival of Christmas falls close to the midwinter solstice. People of 1973 Protect Roe Wade T Shirt and religions have been feasting at this time of year for thousands of years. In Britain, the earliest pre-Saxon midwinter solstice was represented by the Holly King: a pagan figure who for-shadowed the coming of spring. He would wear a long, green hooded cloak and a wreath of holly, ivy or mistletoe: In Early British mythology the Oak King and the Holly King were twins, pitted against each other in a never-ending fight for supremacy. Every year at the Winter and Summer solstices, the kings would fight for dominance: in midwinter the Oak King won, and at Mid-summer the Holly King was the victor. Despite being enemies, without one, the other would no longer exist. Yule, meanwhile, is another ancient Pagan festival, historically observed by the Germanic peoples. The season was originally connected with the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the Mōdraniht, or ‘Night of the Mothers’ celebrated by the by Pagan Anglo-Saxons. With the end of the longest night the dark is defeated with the Return of the Sun, the return of light, hope and promise. The Goddess gives birth to the Sun/Sun God. When Britain was settled by the Saxons and other Germanic tribes in the fifth and sixth centuries CE, the earlier Holly King took on the characteristics of the Saxon Father Time, also known as King Frost or King Winter.
