I love Christmas time. I love the lights, I love the festivities, I love the generosity, I love the fellowship, I love the love it brings. I don’t love the lies, or the pressure, or the fear, or the competition, or the divisiveness we allow and encourage. So don’t tell me I’m robbing my daughter of her childhood because I don’t buy into Santa Claus or elf on the shelf. Don’t tell me I’m missing out because I don’t force her to take pictures on a stranger’s lap when she’s terrified and laugh at her fear, that’s neverΒ cute or funny.

Don’t tell me but it’s so fun when I don’t pose a doll around my house doing things that would get my daughter into huge trouble if she did them. I’m not robbing my daughter of anything. I’m just not lying to her, forcing her to do things that scare her, confusing her, or setting her up for disappointment. My daughter loves Christmas without all the extra.

She has more fun than most kids because she has no pressure, she loves all the beauty and really appreciates it all because she knows all the work that it takes, she feels all the love because she knows that it’s the people that love her that make it happen. Santa and an elf don’t make Christmas magic, love makes Christmas magical. My daughter knows the real meaning of Christmas.
