Vacation starting 3/22 for 10 days. Working in a new position, and for the first time in 48+ years since graduation, I feel inept. Little orientation with a new data system and Nurse You’re my person shirt instances of duplication, staff not happy as they moved into our facility with less room and a lot of employee transfers, doesn’t help. I love working with moms and and kids so will keep persevering. Vent over.

Strain comes from unsupportive administration. Nurses are reprimanded for enforcing administrative rules as well as isolation and Nurse You’re my person shirt rules. We have no break time and restroom breaks only when there is no choice. 12 hr. Shifts so they only have to pay two shifts not three. Administration says pts are their most important responsibility but the first thing they do is cut staff. I try to avoid hospitals at all costs.
