As a principal, I feel so much of this, too. I hear stories that I try to shelter teachers and staff from while also sharing when it is necessary for appropriate response, empathy and/or watchfulness. As a high school ed tech , I reported that two students had verbalized signals to me that they were at risk of suicide. One committed suicide..the other was saved by a passerby while he was hanging from a bridge. I still cry. If I could turn the clock back..I wouldn’t have stopped until someone listened. I still think about these students to this day.
