My friend Michele (I call her Moosh), far right, shared this Mess With My Friend Remember Shirt. It was our first-ever Nutcracker performance, I don’t even want tothink about how many years ago.  Moosh and I went on to dance various Nutcracker roles until we graduated, and we share lots of ballet memories and battle wounds. As for Becky (I call her Beccus), far left, this was her first AND LAST Nutcracker performance, as she went on to gymnastics and cheerleading, which were more her speed. Her split jumps were bananas! Anyway, I’m sharing this because the three of us are still close friends today, and that makes my happy. Lifelong friends are so darn important and I love them both. (Also, “angel” is a relative term…ha.

Senator Tim Scott is my colleague and Mess With My Friend Remember Shirt. Don’t get me wrong, I could write a dissertation on our disagreements. We both probably find the stances the other takes on many issues objectionable and sometimes even outrageous. But we have worked to find common ground. We both agree that as a nation we need to listen to each other more; lead with a more courageous empathy; and never forget, as fellow Americans, that the lines that divide us are no where near as strong as the ties that bind us.
