If I had 20 or 30 students, I would be delighted regardless of their entry level skills or needs… but I have Education Is Important But Dunkin’ Donuts Is Importanter T-shirt, and I don’t have the ability to stay at school for endless hours. I am all for this, but we have to approach these remediation and reassessment/mastery designs with correct assessments of what teachers are actually facing- not just a romanticized idea of what could be.

What about trades and Education Is Important But Dunkin’ Donuts Is Importanter T-shirt? We as a country seem to profess that if you are not a physicist or mathematician or engineer, you are less valuable. What about taking some of these children who just might not have the aptitude for physics but are amazing at building stuff or painting stuff or sculpting or plumbing or electrical work – things a bit less (not entirely) cerebral and are more physical and tactile? There seems to be (I may be wrong) a hidden thought that anyone can master physics or chemistry or theology or psychology or historical analysis. What about those that are not “built” that way, but are amazing at building things?
